Purpose:

After several month of path finding with customer, some requests in common are seen here. But not all requests are collected here. Only the ones that may help daos approaching into productions are listed here.

A simple justification are provided as well for each item. This list may vary as times go as 1.new requirement are found 2. existing requirement are fullfilled or swap out.

Add disk in single daos node.

H3C and CEC

a. Add disk is a common feature in enterprise system and cloud environment. Customer may consider to extend the cluster’s capability by adding new nodes or new disks.

Current, adding disk means adding same number of disk on every node at each extending in cluster.

Container scale limits and performance optimization in the cluster. Current single pool can’t contain up to 4K containers, other wise poor I/O performance and handle timeout will occur.

Need to optimize current container design to support up to around 4K containers in system.

H3C and CEC

This request is designed for block support in customer. Block are based on container base. In cloud , thousands of block device may be required from storage infrastructure. But it looks like container suck poor performance if reaching this scale. The design needs refactor to make it work.
